miscellaneous

If you've tried everything and nothing works...then just try some of this stuff. See if you can't try and get some amusement from them.

You could make prank phone calls
A terrific way to pass time if you have funny things to say.

Have a "Who is less competitive" competition
By trying to win, you automatically lose. But if you lose then you win, in which case you would lose. Get it?

Get yourself as nauseated as possible
My favorite is spinning around in a wheelie chair for a long period of time, then try to walk a straight line. Hilarity shall ensue.

Rate passers by
Give in to your malicious human instinct to judge people. Doesn’t matter what it is you are rating them on as long as it keeps you entertained.

Try to not think about penguins
You just lost. Sorry.

Those are just some random things. You could also try speaking with a different accent…like Scottish. (See “Exercise” article for Braveheart speech.) Seriously guys, I just got stuck at school for 2 hours because I messed up what time wrestling practice was. I was able to keep busy that whole time with literally NO ONE AROUND using these techniques. Especially the nausea one, that’s a lot of fun…until you stop spinning. Then it isn’t so great. If none of this stuff works, or any of the other stuff in this blog, then you are beyond hopeless and you are doomed to be bored forever. Sorry, that’s life kid.

Irritation

Annoying People

Since the dawn of time, people have found amusement at the expense of others. For example, the ancient Romans used to watch prisoners kill each other for fun; they enjoyed watching others suffer. Annoying people is similar in this regard, but it involves less murder. For example, I have friends who like to jam their own lockers so they don’t have to put in their combinations to open them. Because of this, they don’t know their own locker combinations. After wrestling practice one night, I removed the slips of paper that they use to jam the lock. You could imagine my immense joy upon hearing that the next morning I had made every single one of them late for their first period class. Was it immature? Yes. Was it a malicious and unnecessary prank? Indubitably. But I enjoyed it, and that my friends, is all that matters. It takes a special kind of person to find enjoyment in the suffering of others…namely, a sadistic one. However, I think that there is  no problem with some harmless pranking, as long as no one gets hurt, it can be a great way to spend time. Speaking of irritation, there is an entire video series about it by one of my favorite comedians: John Cleese.

I love John Cleese. Truly a genius at the fine art of annoyance. Don’t watch too many of the videos though, you will experience collateral damage as it will slowly rot your brain. But it’s good in small doses

Nostalgia

Personally, when I’m bored, I find myself wondering how I was never bored as a kid. When I talk to other people, they seem to share this thought. As children, there is never a dull moment. Why is this? It is because children posses the ability to suspend their pride just to have a good time. What I mean by this is that as we age, we slowly develop more and more inhibitions; we worry too much about what other people think about us, whereas a child does not.  In quest to find my inner child I raided my old stuff.  I encountered my old Nintendo DS as well as Spongebob Squarepants: The Video Game. You read correctly, I’m going to spend free time playing some serious Spongebob for the sake of my dear readers. I hope it is appreciated.
Try not to be distracted by my attractive features throughout the video and instead focus on my sentiments. I am reacting to playing a video game that was a large part of my childhood. Though I am critical of the game in the video, it brought back a rush of memories from my past as I played it. It was a fin experience and I would strongly recommend anyone who is bored to do something nostalgic to pass the time. You could re-kindle your love for said activity…or, if not, the nostalgia alone should be enough to prevent it from being a total waste of your time.

Try Being Talented

Learning Something New

As unappealing as learning may sound, you may find that it is a very fun way to spend time. I’m not exactly talking about long division here people, I’m talking about fun stuff. Just think about the most random/appealing skill you can think of and type it into google. BOOM! Instant entertainment. You’re welcome. Think about the possibilities people: anything you can think of, you can learn on the internet. Like how to make balloon animals, juggling, self hypnosis/meditation…the limit is your imagination. Just make sure it’s something you’re interested in, or you’ll get bored quicker than it takes for Mark Sanchez to throw an interception. Which is pretty quick. Who knows what opportunities learning something new will open up? I’m going to let you in on a secret: CHICKS….DIG…BALLOON…ANIMALS. Yeah, you know it’s true ladies.  No matter how unappealing a guy is, balloon animals will allow them to score. It’s how I impressed my girlfriend Kim Kardashian. She got too clingy though, so I dumped her. In all seriousness though, isn’t there something that you’ve always wanted to do? Who knows, you could find a new passion. For example, there once was a man who just decided to pick up a guitar randomly and started to play for fun. His name was Jimmi Hendrix, he really wasn’t that big of a deal.

Seriously though, This Guy >>>> ALL OF YOU

Take the initiative and try something new, you just might surprise yourself. You can thank me later.

Exercise

Exercise

As hard as it is to believe, I haven’t always had the body of a Greek God as I clearly have now. No, my herculean physique, though it appears to be sculpted from marble, was actually sculpted from many an hour of boredom.  Exercise is a productive and healthy way to cure boredom.  It’s not just something to do, it also has tons of other benefits. Exercise has been proven to treat depression, improve memory, alleviate pain and it also triggers the release of endorphins. Now the only thing stopping you from exercising is you. I can tell you from experience that the hardest part of exercise is motivating yourself to actually do it. For motivation, think about the positive effects that exercise will have on your life: whether its putting on muscle so you can totally score some babes, losing some weight or simply getting in better shape. If that does not help, I have prepared the following picture to help with motivation:

WOW. I don’t know about you guys, but that fired me up. What exercise you want to do depends on what you want to accomplish. If you fancy putting on some muscle, you should try weight lifting. If you just want to get into better shape, you should run and do other cardio stuff. I am aware that this is pretty obvious, but if you want specifics, then you should try some research independently. Regardless, all exercise is good exercise, so you really can’t go wrong. Unless you drop a heavy weight on yourself and die. Try not to do that. Are you still on the couch?? GET OUT THERE AND DO WORK!!!!! Here is some more motivation if you require it:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3oz0zhEwZk. It really doesn’t apply to working out but if you just kind of imagine that by: “FREEDOM” Mel Gibson means “GETTING BIG” and by the English he means “EXCESS FAT” and you’re set.

An overview of Big Red Boredom,

This blog is dedicated to fighting the menace plaguing American youth in today's society: Boredom. It effects all of us; no matter how busy or socially active you are, everyone gets bored every once in a while.  Including myself! It may be hard, even impossible to believe, but even a total stud such as me is occasionally left with no plans for the night. Despite this, I am still able to have a good time without the company of friends. How you ask? LETS FIND OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
